What is Nutritional Therapy?
Nutritional Therapy is about focusing on your diet and lifestyle in order for you to achieve your optimum health.
Optimum health is about attaining and maintaining full potential physically, mentally and spiritually with vitality, energy and sense of profound well-being, more than just freedom from disease.
Nutritional therapy promotes the body’s own healing capabilities to improve health and increase resistance to disease.
Nutritional therapy is a complementary therapy, which means it can work alongside orthodox medicine. Nutritional therapy is a way of using food and supplements to restore the body to a natural healthy equilibrium by addressing underlying causes of individual’s
1.Poor detoxification
2.Nutritional deficiencies
3.Poor digestion
4.Negative attitudes and lifestyle to create ill health
Why you may need nutritional help?
Our modern diet has changed radically in the last 50 years. It has become more convenient and abundant but we are paying a high price for this poor quality food.
Although the food may look and taste appealing, the majority of it has often been intensively farmed, then processed, packaged and sent half way around the world to sit on supermarket shelves and then our fridges. By the time we eat it, the nutrient content (vitamins, minerals, enzymes) will have diminished radically.
We often suffer from increased stress levels. Today we work harder and longer, sleep less and have more financial burdens. We have less time for looking after ourselves and for preparing nutritional meals everyday; all of which take their toll on the body mentally, physically and nutritionally.
Nourishing the body is fundamental to good health. The right quality and quantity of food specifically selected for you, combined with good digestion, absorption and elimination can only lead to better health.
What is my approach?
In order to address underlying causes of your health issues, I ask a lot of questions about all aspects of your health and well being based on your Health Programme Questionnaire (HPQ) including medical history, dietary record, family history, health profiles such as digestion, toxicity, immune, cardiovascular, adrenal, thyroid and female hormonal profile, etc. This helps me to discover if you have any specific health problems such as food allergies, nutritional deficiencies, toxic overload and hormonal imbalance, etc.
What does the Nutritional Consultation involve?
The Initial Consultation:
The initial consultation involves detailed explanations of how and why foods that you eat can contribute to conditions that you are concerned about. It will be divided into sections and will explain each aspect of diet and lifestyle, one at a time. It will be fully explained how and what to change in a healthy positive way. Supplements will be recommended, taking into account your current diet and needs.
I aim to give you practical advice and a tailored made programme according to your personal requirements.
In this way, the clients will achieve maximum benefit, on their route to better health.
Progress is monitored and should new situations arise, the Programme is adjusted accordingly.
All consultations are strictly confidential and all clients will receive the following:
1.A thorough report / clear guidelines (2-3 typed pages) regarding their diet, lifestyle and any conditions that need to be addressed
2.A comprehensive Supplement Programme
3.A personalised Foods to ADD Programme
4.A personalised Foods to AVOID / REDUCE Programme
The first consultation usually takes between 1 hour and 1.5 hours. The main focus of the consultation is diet and lifestyle analysis, as all major health problems root from these factors.
A holistic examination of various profiles (e.g. immunity, cardiovascular profile, toxicity profile, etc) and their effects on any current health problems is also explored. The individual’s biochemical status and emotional factors are also considered. From these we prepare a report and recommendations, which are thoroughly explained at the consultation.
Please fill in the Questionnaire which will be sent you if you contact me or collected from the clinic, prior to your consultation. The Questionnaire needs to be returned to me a minimum of one week before the first consultation for analysis. I will contact you to book a date and time of appointment that suits you.
The Follow-up Consultations:
The follow-up consultations usually take up to 45 minutes and are held 4 weeks later. This usually focuses on any of your residual symptoms, new symptoms and test results. Your programme will be reassessed and altered accordingly.
Further follow-up consultations are held at suitable intervals as required.
What are functional / biochemical tests?
